DOGBear

In the chatworld of IRC my nickname is DOGBear. It means:
D = Dutch
O = Old
G = Grey
Bear = well there are people who always telling me I look like a nice bear, so I took this animal in my nickname.

When did I start using this nickname? I don't know it exactly, but it must have been somewhere in the year 2005. Time flies, so it could ne earlier that I began using this name. I only lnow that at the end of the last century I first came on the chat via Yahoo. I used several nicknames there. The most used one is philosephernl. Later on I also used the nick oldgreybear49. Here you see some of the beginning of my now used name. I then was 49 years old.

Chatting can be very enslaving. In the beginning I came online in the weekends only for an hour or so. And it was in october 2001 someone took me in a private room to talk with me (in Yahoo). We talked and talked and we decided not to go on in Yahoo but to meet each other in MSN. There we had many talks. I forgot the Yahoo chat and it was around 2005 when I heard of IRC (I don't know who told me or where I got the information from).

I saw, like in Yahoo, many rooms to choose. I started in #50-something and I met a lady who helped me more about using of IRC. I surfed through many rooms and talked to many people.
