FAMILY HISTORT OF THE DUTCH WESTLAND FAMILY BURGER
It was about the time my oldest son Remko (12 february 1980) was born that I got interested for the search of our ancestors. I began my first little steps in the world of family history, talked to elder family and traveled to The Hague for research in the Central Bureau of Genealogy and the Rijksarchives. Besides this I have to be grateful to have met Henk Burger from The Hague. He gave me historical material of my family because he administrated the so called "Vicar-rights". This was the basis for writing to many family members. I also must be grateful to my, too early died, uncle Ben Burger (28 april 1918 - 1 april 1990). I also am grateful to my wife Ank Krauweel for her patience and her support she gave for the many hours I was busy at home, but also for the time I was traveling to do research in archives. Finally I will thank my parents Ben Burger (born 6 may 1916) and Ann Timmers (6 december 1918 - 13 februar 2005) for their constant interest they showed for my family history search and sometimes gave extra information.
The idea to built a website is as old as I could surf on
the internet. The recording of familyhistory was first on paper. With the
introduction of the personal computer I tried to register this information on my
pc. It was round 1990 Gens Data came with a special computerprogramm GD90 where
all the data could be stored and where you can get different sorts of output.
Now I am using GDWin for Windows.
Via the internet I found many information data. It was by this medium I once
found one of my oldest ancestors. I also found information from another far
family member who was busy with family history. His name is Hans Burger and he
is writing a family history book. This inspired me to make this part of my
website.
